There are several ways of shrinking the caps on bottle necks: by using using one of the following home methods:
- By putting a corked bottle, neck down, into a pot with hot water for a short while;
- By putting a corked bottle into a washbasin, putting the cap on (holding it on top with a fork, for example), and pouring hot water for a kettle over it, or holding the bottle with a cap over hot steam;
- By heating the bottle neck with a cap installed using a dryer (an option for those persistent)
