5 Gallon Pressure Barrel with Vent Cap and Tap

This 5-gallon (23L) plastic beer barrel is ideal for homebrewers who prefer natural conditioning. Designed for secondary fermentation and gravity-fed dispensing, it’s a fuss-free solution for storing and serving beer or cider without the need for external CO₂.

Pressure Barrel Key Features:

•     Generous Capacity: Stores up to 40 pints / 23 Litres perfect for full-batch brews
•     Food-Grade Plastic: Durable, safe, and easy to clean
•     Vent Cap with Pressure Release Valve: Supports natural carbonation while preventing  over-pressurisation
•     Quick-Serve Tap:  12mm tap for smooth, gravity-fed pouring
•     No CO₂ Required: Designed for secondary fermentation—not compatible with gas injection systems.

Pressure Barrel How to Use:

1.     Fill with your brew and tighten the vent cap
2.     Allow secondary fermentation to build natural pressure
3.     Serve directly from the tap - no syphoning, bottling, or CO₂ setup needed

What’s Included:

•     5 Gallon Plastic Barrel
•     Pressure Vent Cap (2")
•     Dispensing Tap (12mm)

Dimensions:

•     Height (excluding cap): ~42 cm
•     Width: ~30 cm

Always check tap is tightened before use

Note: To ensure a proper seal, it's essential to apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) around the lid’s O-ring. Hand-tightening alone is often insufficient—using a cap spanner to give an extra quarter turn can significantly improve the seal and prevent gas leaks.

Occasionally, manufacturing inconsistencies can leave small bumps or uneven areas on the rim of the barrel. Lightly sanding the top surface with wet-and-dry sandpaper on a flat board can help level it out, improving the lid’s contact and sealing performance.

IMPORTANT: After filling the barrel, always check for pressure within the first hour. Open the tap briefly - if pressure is present, all is well. If not, re-tighten the lid, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the seal, and test again.

Don’t leave this step for several weeks, as lack of pressure could result in a spoiled brew.
