Muslin Hop Bag

Muslin bag for hop additions. Can also be used for other botanical or fruit additions.

The primary purpose of a muslin hop bag is to contain hops during the brewing process. It serves as a convenient way to add hops to the boiling wort or for dry hopping. By using a hop bag, you can prevent loose hops from clogging your tap or syphon.

These bags are typically made from muslin cloth, which is a lightweight, loosely woven fabric. Muslin is porous enough to allow the flavours and aromas of hops to infuse into the beer while keeping the hop particles contained.

Boiling Hops: During the boil, you can place your hop pellets or whole hops inside the muslin bag and drop it directly into the boiling wort. This prevents hop debris from floating freely and makes clean-up easier.

Dry Hopping: For dry hopping (adding hops after the boil), you can use the same bag. Simply add your hops to the bag and place it in the fermenter. This allows the hops to impart their flavours without creating a mess.

Apart from brewing, muslin hop bags can also be used for other culinary purposes, such as making jam or marmalade.
