King Keg Bottom Tap 5 Gallon Pressure Barrel - S30 Valve
A bottom tap Barrel which comes with 4 inch cap and S30 valve and tapA top tap barrel offers greater flexibility in use than a conventional bottom tap barrel. It can be stored on the floor and the beer can still be drawn off! This is achieved by a tube plugged into the back of the tap, on the other end of which is a FLOAT. The pressure inside the barrel delivers the beer and the float ensures that the clearest beer, from near the surface, reaches the glass!
Please note this barrel uses a Hambleton Bard S30 Cylinder system.
Problems with King Keg Barrels:-
You do need to add vasaline to the lid and make sure its very tight, hand tight is not normally enough to seal the lid
a cap spanner does the tick a extra 1/4 turn does make a difference
We also find some times the lids have bumps ( due to the manufacturing process ) we find sometimes if you give the top of the barrel
a sanding with wet and dry on a board to keep it level also helps
As long as the float is in the tap in the barrel it does not matter too much if it sinks or floats, its task is to give the ability
to draw the beer off under tap level.
The tap in the picture has been replaced with a fermenter tap which is a better tap
When using a barrel always check the barrel after 1 hour of putting the beer in, check for pressure by opening the tap if pressure great if no pressure then check the lid re-tighten, add vasaline, please don't wait 3-4 weeks then test otherwise you may not have a brew left For use with the S30 gas system, Co2 bulbs will not work with this barrel valve
