Frequently Asked Questions About Wine Kits
What is a home brew wine kit?
A wine kit contains the main ingredients required to make wine at home, typically including grape juice or grape concentrate, yeast and other ingredients depending on the particular kit. Fermentation equipment is generally purchased separately unless you're buying a wine making starter kit.
How many bottles does a wine kit make?
Our most common sizes are 6 bottle and 30 bottle wine kits. A 6 bottle kit makes approximately 4.5 litres, while a 30 bottle kit generally makes approximately 23 litres.
How long does a wine kit take to make?
It depends on the kit. Some quick wine kits can complete their main production process in around 7 days, while premium kits can take several weeks. Check the individual product instructions before starting.
Do I need equipment to make a wine kit?
Yes, most ingredient-only wine kits require suitable fermentation equipment. Typical equipment includes a fermenting vessel, airlock, syphon, hydrometer and cleaning/sterilising products. Starter kits are available if you don't already have the equipment.
Are 6 bottle wine kits good for beginners?
They can be an excellent way to start because they produce a smaller batch and allow you to try different wine styles without making 30 bottles at once.
What types of home brew wine can I make?
The range includes red, white, rosé, blush and fruit wine kits, with familiar styles such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
